First Day of Competition at Tournament of Champions

As the fifth annual Tournament of Champions got underway today at York Equestrian Centre, it became apparent why York Region is the horse capital of Canada. Riders from the area took home top ribbons in competition illustrating both the depth of equestrian talent and participation in the region.


Gabriella Salick Wins Open Welcome at Tournament of Champions

Top show jumpers from across Canada and the U.S.A. plus individual riders from France, Britain and South America started competition Thursday at the fifth annual Tournament of Champions.


Joanne Mintz & Koriedon Wins Prix St. Georges at Dressage at Devon

Canada's Joanne Mintz and her 10-year-old Koriedon won the afternoon Prix St. Georges class held today at Dressage at Devon, PA.


Dermott Lennon Wins Ireland's First Individual Gold

Ireland has taken its first Individual World Championship Gold in Show Jumping. Thirty three-year old Dermott LENNON rode superbly to win the 2002 Individual Jumping Championship four faults ahead of Silver medallist Eric NAVET (FRA) finishing on eight faults.


Canada Wins Silver in Reining at WEG

The favourites (USA) won the first World Championship title in Reining at the World Equestrian Games. Team Canada wins Silver with Italy winning Bronze. The German team lost their goal of bronze by three points.


Final Four Proceed to Showjumping Final at WEG

Eric Navet (FRA), Peter Wylde (USA), Dermott Lennon (IRL) and Helena Lundback (SWE) will vie tomorrow for the Jumping World Champion Title.


France Wins Team Gold in Showjumping at WEG

France has won its third Jumping Team World Championship Gold medal in Chapin on Thursday. Sweden wins Silver with Belgium capturing Bronze.


Switzerland's Markus Fuchs in The Lead

Showjumping competition is underway today with the first class of the individual and team qualifiers. Leading the pack right now is Switzerland's Markus Fuchs aboard Tinka's Boy. Canada's highest placing rider is Mac Cone on Cocu (22nd).


21 Teams in Jumping Championships

Thirty five nations have entered for the Jumping World Championships to be held at the World Equestrian Games. Twenty one countries will contest the 2002 Teams World Championship. One hundred and seven riders in total will jump in the Table C, the first round of the Teams and Individual Championship.


Aachen to Host 2006 World Equestrian Games

HRH The Infanta Dońa Pilar de Borbón, President of the Fédération Equestre Internationale, today (18 September 2002) announced that Aachen, Germany, would host the 5th World Equestrian Games in September 2006.
