Leslie Reid Leads Canadian Dressage Team at Athens Olympics

Following the first of day of Grand Prix Team competition at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece, Leslie Reid of Langley, BC, leads the Canadian Dressage Team.


Leslie Reid Leads Canada Into Olympic Dressage

Leslie Reid of Langley BC rode Deryol Andrews’ ten year old Dutch gelding Mark to a fifteenth place finish in the first day of team competition today at the Olympic Games. Reid was the first to go for Canada, and was the thirteenth competitor in the two day team contest.


Germany is leading the Dressage Team competition at the end of the first day

Twenty-six riders out of 56 have competed in the first session of the Grand Prix Team competition, which also serves as 1st qualifier for the individual medals. The German team achieved 71.813 % after their two first riders Heike Kemmer / Bonaparte and Hubertus Schmidt / Wansuela Suerto. With a combined score of 69.146 %, United States lays in second place after rides from Günter Seidel and Lisa Wilcox, who has only recently returned to competition, after six months out with an injury to her horse Relevant 5.

Athens, 1:00pm EEST- - - Leslie Reid of Langley, BC and the 10-year-old Mark made their Olympic debut today at Markopoulo Equestrian Centre and were rewarded with a score of 66.083.  Later she said although Mark was very aware of his impressive surroundings resulting in tightness, he  absolutely tried to do his best to be obedient. “I’m glad I got to go up the centre line! she said.  Christilot Boylen, who is coaching Reid here as well as Belinda Trussell, noted “It’s a big step up to the big tour.”  Ashley Holzer and Imperioso, last of the Canadians to go on this first day of dressage competition, received a conservative score of 64.750 for a conservative ride, a result that clearly disappointed her.  Rafael Soto (ESP) and Invasor had the day's top score of 72.792.  More later .  . .


Dressage Heavyweight Medal Favourites

Anky van Grunsven (NED), the defending gold medallist in Individual Dressage, will be competing in her fifth Olympic Games in Athens. The Dutch rider will be competing with the relatively new partnership with a new horse, 10-year-old SALINERO, replacing her very successful BONFIRE.


Canada’s Dressage Team Ready In Athens

With the veterinary inspection safely behind them, Canada’s all-female Olympic dressage team is preparing for the first day of team competition tomorrow. 52 horses from 18 countries will compete over two days in the team Grand Prix test.


Reid First Canadian Dressage Rider in Start List

The order of go has been determined for the first day of Grand Prix Dressage which will take the stage Friday August 20th. British Columbia's Leslie Reid and Mark will be the first Canadian pair to canter down centreline.


Canadian Dressage Young Riders Move on to NAYRC Individual Final

Following the Individual Championship Dressage Test at the Maui Jim North American Young Riders' Championships, presented by CN, all the Canadian dressage riders have qualified to proceed to the Musical Freestyle Final on Sunday.

NAYRC Silver Medal Performance for Canada East Team

After the completion of the Team Dressage Championship, the Canada East Young Riders' Team won the Team Silver Medal today at the 2004 F.E.I. North American Young Riders' Championships (NAYRC), held Tempel Farms in Old Mill Creek, IL, Aug. 11-15, 2004.
